Community Members and Air Quality Experts Come Together for Third All About Air Quality Bootcamp in Fresno, California

Another excellent All About Air Quality Bootcamp took place in February in Fresno, California! The Bootcamp featured two full days of air quality education for community advocates, with 26 participants, 2 interpreters, 5 staff members, and 2 guest speakers in attendance.

The Bootcamp kicked off on a Thursday evening with a welcome dinner, where attendees were able to gather, get to know each other, share stories, and enjoy some food.

With our partners Coalition for Clean Air, we worked through our first full day of training on basic air quality concepts, pollutants and emissions, air pollution meteorology, measuring pollution, and understanding data. The content of day two covered air pollution regulation, health effects, air quality and environmental justice, communication and advocacy, and funding opportunities. We were fortunate to have special guests Genevieve Amsalem, Director of the Air and Climate Justice Team at Central California Environmental Justice Network, and Kevin Hamilton, Senior Director of Government Affairs at Central California Asthma Collaborative, who came to speak about emissions and health effects respectively.

The Bootcamp included lots of demonstrations and hands-on activities to engage participants and provide a deeper understanding of air quality concepts.

And there are even more Bootcamps to come! Our fourth All About Air Quality Bootcamp will be held in the Inland Empire in November so keep an eye out for more information to come. Interested in attending or learning more about these future sessions? Don’t hesitate to reach out!
